What is a good messenger application that doesn’t require email and/or phone number? I know nostr has DMs. But looking for more of a group oriented chat. Comparable to like discord or telegram.

Keet.io is pretty great on desktop, it's available on mobile, but still lacks notifications & some basic things that leave it feeling not quite fully baked yet, but it'll get there. Most of the hard stuff is done.
