Are safety and censorship resistance, compatible?
Discussion
Censorship resistance makes 'safety' a personal responsibility, as it should be. On Nostr, users must filter and curate their own feed as they see fit.
but how’s that gonna work with the app stores? That’s not how they view things. They want safety in place.
I don’t see why not. What situation are you imagining that prompted the question?
Bluesky: “The basics of our approach to moderation are well-established practices. We do automated labeling, like centralized social sites, and make service-level admin decisions, like many federated networks.”
ok if I’m following, then I think the answer is no, censorship resistance and safety are not incompatible.
Censorship resistance in a publishing platform guarantees access and the ability to publish, not that anyone is required to see or listen to you. The same moderation tools blue sky is building can be built and used by anyone who wishes to do so nostr.
