Wasn’t around for colored coins, but I’ve heard of other “things” that will straight burn bitcoin and there’s no other way to get back to normal bitcoin so your stuck in whatever shitcoin land the burn “funds”. You’re sort of doing this with liquid, to my understanding, but it can go back to BTC.
