Creating our garden beds here in the high desert, we're taking some ideas from the Hopi and permaculture for capturing water during monsoon season and the occasional spring rain.
We're digging down similar to Hopi sunken garden beds but since we have a slight slope in our garden area we're also adding a burm on the down slope side with a cut to the next garden bed to direct the water into the next bed.
These are the first two beds, the burm needs to be built up some more.
