there's no "discovery problem", there's simply not much content in nostr other than a bitcointwitter2 parroting party lines as nostr:npub1njst6azswskk5gp3ns8r6nr8nj0qg65acu8gaa2u9yz7yszjxs9s6k7fqx likes to say. make one post challenging some of their internet cult beliefs and you are publicly scolded, ridiculed, muted and harassed by randos with Bitcoin in their username, AI slop profile pictures and left curve IQ. trending notes are dominated by cringefluencers playing to the peanut gallery and scheduling weak ass meme posts for zaps.

the few people that still stick to this protocol in spite of it are here because they have found a few meaningful connections or they can build the tools and businesses they want to see in the world on top of nostr. but that spark will wear off with time while they see their proposals being bikeshed to oblivion, NIPs changed without any consideration for backwards compatibility and the huge software and user churn rates.

Daddy chill 😎

I'm mad because I care, I've spent the last two and a half years of my life tirelessly building on nostr and the state of things makes me sad.

I can see that. /sending virtual hug. Sometimes when someone is too deep it only sees the problems. I am not saying you are wrong. But there are people here :)

thanks for the kind words and that's actually great advice, i should probably log off for a couple weeks and chill. followed you back my fren.

Nah, you're 100% right, and you're building stuff that makes sense. Don't let the positivity slop get to you.

That's a follow here!

nostr got me excited for coding again feeling like the old web and I did a thing last year that was never released because as interesting as it was, what you write kinda emphasizes the reason i stepped away from nostr (along with the rest of social media).

coming back to nostr and social media after a long break, I think the biggest thing is there is a content problem, partially for the reasons you laid out. I think another part of the content problem is nostr clients have just been reproducing the web as we have know it up until the age of social media; centralized, isolated, trust-based, sign up your first born or else. If it wasn't that sort of content, it was bombarding you with ads to do this thing or believe that.

nostr allows us to more readily fit the client around the content - to that end the medium is the message. nostr is not the medium (except to the devs who are and have been playing around) to attract more content but the means by which we want to see the future be built. we need more media which utilizes nostr to attract more people and that will likely change quietly (and somewhat boringly) in the background like nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgqtxwaehxw309anxjmr5v4ezumn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tmwwp6kyvtkx46kv7tgx3kxketnd3nhs7rrvdkxwwrxxp585ct6dpshwdmjwdexsanxw96hs7ndxfnxkd35vvmny6rswv6r2m3swc6n7cnjdaskgcmpwd6r6arjw4jsqgr98zf9a0akv86p3kx86p6tachg4lthsuqamzg8psk6jdk4w8j4cv6qcgkr

But these words hit ring true and need to be repeated for the relay in the back!
