Even the US automakers use foreign parts,

US automakers would see dramatic price increases.. which means selling even less abroad. An even wider trade deficit. You can not deny that tariffs hurt Americans with inflation.

The entire "ripping us off" argument is total dribble. The trade deficit is high, because the US government borrows money from the Chinese (via Treasury bonds), to finance spending. If you buy stuff, you get stuff. That's not "ripping you off", you're borrowing and consuming.

the other challenge is the barriers to trade US face in other markets. Its much easier for a foreign company to enter the US market.

The Chinese have been offloading our Treasury for a while Japan holds $1T, while Chine owns ~ $800B- and we own a lot of our own debt.

This is total dribble dude. You are promoting collectivism, where we're all the borg and the queen bee controls us. Americans benefit to buy cheap goods. If I give you a discount, I'm not attacking you

We are all individuals. That's why we're on Nostr, so your npub is different than mine. We don't need Elon Musk to balance out the deficit of likes

promoting collectivism? did i mention Elon?

Ok what is your position? Tariffs are collectivism.

All government is collectivism

free trade;no tarriffs for any country

ok so then yeah, there's no debate
