This is a ‘is it just me Mother’s Day’ speech that I finished off the Girls Nest Chat with yesterday. Apologies that it is long but hope you enjoy it 💜

Is it just me or is Mother’s Day an important day for everyone?

Whoever you are I think Mother’s Day is a day for us ALL to celebrate, reflect and enjoy our mothers, aunts, cousins, friends or whatever mother figure we have in our lives and whether they are still with us or not, and even those that are estranged from their moms.

I dearly love my mom, she lives interstate and I call her two or three times a day, yes that much!

She lives on her own and is elderly, so sometimes the only conversations she has each day is with me.

I try to get interstate as much as I can to see her and spend time with her as I know it’s limited and precious.

There were times in my life where my relationship with my mom was not as loving and harmonious as it is now and I guess that is a part of growing older and possibly becoming a mom myself!

For me Mother’s Day is always spent with a sleep in, a strong coffee brought to me in bed and along with a few gifts brought by my son for me!

It’s the one day I allow myself to not do any washing, housework or if I can help it walk the dog, I don’t cook and we will either go out for lunch or it’s take out KFC and one of the few times each year we indulge in this type of take out. And followed by a bottle of Champagne and a glass or two of wine and a nice long relaxing bath!

Whilst for some it’s just another day, I like to take the time to celebrate it - not only for myself but for all the mothers out there, be it with children or furbabies we are all mothers of some kind, and taking care of fur babies is much harder than taking care of kids- kids grow up and tend to themselves, animals don’t!

So this Mother’s Day please do celebrate!

I do hope you take the time to call your mom, see your mom or reflect upon your mom as without them we certainly wouldn’t be here.

If your wife or partner is a mom please praise her, love her, cherish her, and appreciate her for she is truly a Queen!

A friend of mine has an amazing quote and I just love it as it rings true, and this is it;

I wish I saw my mother when I was younger with the eyes I have now,

I wish I felt her when I was younger with the heart I have now!

I cherish each moment I have with my mom, and to all the moms I know and to all the other moms out there that I don’t know - wishing you a happy Mother’s Day!

Cheers and here’s to you all, we are all queens!

Happy Mum's Day, Fren!😁💜😆

Nicely written.😁 My Mom was one of the great encouragers in my life, I wish I could still have a conversation with her but she's been gone now for almost a quarter century...😢

So I'm glad you can still talk to yours daily.🙏😁💜😆💯👍‼️

I’m sure she is looking down upon you each day with immense love and pride 💜🫂

Aww, thanks Sweetie!💜😊😆

I look forward to a future reunion, thanks to the kind promise of Jesus that we will follow him in the resurrection on the last day:

When I got to the part about KFC my mouth started watering, I'm ashamed to admit. I didn't get along with my own mother for a long time , and I am glad I patched things up with her, and I know exactly what you're talking about there .

I had to think for a minute what a furbaby was , my eyes glanced over the word , and I honestly thought that you had written "furby" , you know , the toy from the 90's.

Mothers day here in Ireland was a couple of months ago , and I didn't realise that there was different dates for it around the world until I heard everyone on Nostr talking about it!

I must admit the KFC was indeed delicious 😋

I cannot stop laughing about furby toy you thought I was talking about, I remember those!😂

Thanks so much for joining us in the nest chat, I love hearing you speak as I just love your Irish accent 🫂

🫂

What you wrote is very true, God bless you, your mommy and all the mothers in the world, thanks for sharing beautiful phrases, photos, and good vibes!✨🙏✨🕊️✨💜✨📸✨🫂✨🌹⚡️

Call me curmudgeonly if you like, but I've never observed Mother's Day. My mother didn't like it, and had an innate disdain for the cooption and commecialisation of religious festivals. The original term was "Mothering Sunday", when Christians made a pilgrimage to the mother church where they had been baptised.

As one would expect, the current bastardisation came out of America where anything and everything becomes a land grab. We have Coca Cola to thank for Father Christmas being dressed always in red, for instance.

That said, in its current interpretation it's clearly a special day for many and far be it from me to go against it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, each to their own I say and I respect everyone’s opinions and decisions. 🙏

Cheers 🥂 to all the moms 💐 very beautiful words Marie 💕 it’s absolutely true
