This is a ‘is it just me Mother’s Day’ speech that I finished off the Girls Nest Chat with yesterday. Apologies that it is long but hope you enjoy it 💜

Is it just me or is Mother’s Day an important day for everyone?

Whoever you are I think Mother’s Day is a day for us ALL to celebrate, reflect and enjoy our mothers, aunts, cousins, friends or whatever mother figure we have in our lives and whether they are still with us or not, and even those that are estranged from their moms.

I dearly love my mom, she lives interstate and I call her two or three times a day, yes that much!

She lives on her own and is elderly, so sometimes the only conversations she has each day is with me.

I try to get interstate as much as I can to see her and spend time with her as I know it’s limited and precious.

There were times in my life where my relationship with my mom was not as loving and harmonious as it is now and I guess that is a part of growing older and possibly becoming a mom myself!

For me Mother’s Day is always spent with a sleep in, a strong coffee brought to me in bed and along with a few gifts brought by my son for me!

It’s the one day I allow myself to not do any washing, housework or if I can help it walk the dog, I don’t cook and we will either go out for lunch or it’s take out KFC and one of the few times each year we indulge in this type of take out. And followed by a bottle of Champagne and a glass or two of wine and a nice long relaxing bath!

Whilst for some it’s just another day, I like to take the time to celebrate it - not only for myself but for all the mothers out there, be it with children or furbabies we are all mothers of some kind, and taking care of fur babies is much harder than taking care of kids- kids grow up and tend to themselves, animals don’t!

So this Mother’s Day please do celebrate!

I do hope you take the time to call your mom, see your mom or reflect upon your mom as without them we certainly wouldn’t be here.

If your wife or partner is a mom please praise her, love her, cherish her, and appreciate her for she is truly a Queen!

A friend of mine has an amazing quote and I just love it as it rings true, and this is it;

I wish I saw my mother when I was younger with the eyes I have now,

I wish I felt her when I was younger with the heart I have now!

I cherish each moment I have with my mom, and to all the moms I know and to all the other moms out there that I don’t know - wishing you a happy Mother’s Day!

Cheers and here’s to you all, we are all queens!
