I can’t speak on the Pope’s personal character, I do not know him.
But the Church is and always has been the hospital of sinners. It created schools, hospitals, orphanages, etc. It was the backbone of western civ.
Having bad actors doesn’t make the Church itself become evil.
As for abuse, it’s not surprising for evil abusers to take refuge within the church because the last place people would look. Same for schools btw, doesn’t make schools and the job of teacher inherently evil now does it? It’s something that needs to be addressed with the sternest punishments so it doesn’t happen anymore.
What do you know about the differences between the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church?
Going purely on the Old Testament misses the point of salvation. You speak of fire and brimstone, did you forget that Jesus Christ is the God of the Old Testament? That it was He who rained fire and Sodom and Gomorrah. And He will become back in glory to judge the living and the dead? The Catholic Church believes that you know. We say it every Sunday.
Fish rots from the head down. Not looking for debate. Jay Dyer does a good job if you want to go head/head.
God, as I know him, would not weigh once ounce of evil & one ounce of good the same.
Lots of those Catholic charities & schools, especially in 3rd world countries, were set up as dens of evil. The worst you could think of. I wouldn’t let one creature at the Vatican babysit my dog, forget about kids.
Good luck. 👍
You’re speaking truth my friend
I grew up Catholic.
You know I was just thinking. What would fix “the Church”.
Burn the current institution as it’s known to the ground.
Decentralize everything. No central authority. None. Grassroots, local & only community driven.
That would be step 1.
In a way, follow the teachings of BTC.
It’s pretty bold of a group to call themselves “the Church”. Actually “The Church” is the body of believers/Jesus followers, with the only central authority being Jesus and the Bible. Too many “church leaders” in any denomination think they are the authority because they stand before people and preach. All people should research and read the Bible for themselves and not take anyone’s word for it as to what it says.
A friend of mine that writes books (Mark Cahill) says QEQE; question everybody question everything. I like that.
I like your comment about grassroots and being locally driven. Even though the message of the Gospel is universal, like that of Bitcoin, I love the small groups, and the fact that people can interact peer to peer and not be forced to so certain things, act certain ways and use middle men.
Love, Good News, Freedom to choose and Redemption are indicative of both the Gospel and Bitcoin.

Fortunately Bitcoin isn't our savior, Jesus is.
That is definitely right, Jesus is our Savior
