I'm convinced there is an effect that idiots trust idiots more than intelligent people. We all see it. Philosophers have talked about the isolation of intelligence for centuries now. I don't recall any formalized study of it as definitive as Dunning Kruger.

I wish I had the confidence of the people on the left side of that chart.

I've been actively working on that. Trying to transition how I calculate my confidence in a disagreement so to speak. It isn't how confident am I that I 100% know this and am right. I base my confidence on how certain I am that I know better than the person I'm talking to.

As a bonus this means I get more practice at changing my mind and apologizing for being wrong.

I base my confidence on how much I know about what I don't know. It makes me speak so carefully about some things that people have literally called me stupid behind my back. They believe that thinking before and while you speak means you're dumb. And the whole time I'm just trying really hard to avoid giving them bad information.

I'll try your method for a while.
