I fought hard for open servers. We won against Microsoft. Now it's up to you to fight for open phones. You're on nostr, that's a good start.

Hi I might as well be three monkeys in a trenchcoat, I am such a ham-fisted computer operator… code is pretty much Greek to me no matter how I try to understand but I am learning.

So I have all kinds of electronics, apple devices, PCs, windows, Linux, Linux running VM on windows…

It all seems to work as advertised for my purposes. What’s left to want?

What I’m trying so desperately to say is, I don’t think I even understand the problem. Can you elaborate?

This is what worked for Linux:

Don't support closed source tech. Don't buy it, develop for it, or help anyone use it. Replace it at every opportunity, every encounter, every friend, every business, no matter how difficult.

All right this is a great response! Thank you. It’s specific, and achievable. I like those qualities very much.

The Nostriches with an iPhone rather use workarounds to use nostr in it's full capabilities than opting for a phone that actually aligns with their way of life. true story.

Primal seems to offer full functionality, or am I missing something?

They are with their integrated and custodian wallets but it's only a matter of time until either Apple or the EU steps on their toes. Probably the EU first because Primal is basically offering anonymous transaction on non-custodian wallets which is now kinda illegal in the EU.

not non-custodian. anonymous transaction on hosted wallets. my bad.

Primal is open source, apple though, is not.

It is ridiculous to me that Apple gets to be the gatekeeper for apps on the App Store.

Yet Bitcoiners continue to buy their phones.
