the latin word for donkey is "asinus" asinine means "like a donkey" the american expression "ass" originated from the insult "donkey"
donkeys are the retards of the equine family. they are harder to train, and because they are more stout, can defend themselves by refusing to move where a horse is more easily toppled.
i don't think they are actually more stupid, they are just not as nervous, and for example it's probably easier to get a donkey used to you riding it and shooting a rifle from its back than a horse, who is most likely to throw you off the first few dozen times, until it gets used to the loud noise.
so, asinine is really about a person's mental posture, they refuse to pay attention and compute the input, because they don't think they have to. in humans, this is a sign of mid intelligence, in fact, because they are confident enough to know *something* but not very good at learning. real retards know they are not good at learning, it's one of the first things they learn, and something you will hear from them a lot. so i think similarly, as a donkey is cursed by its confidence, so are mids, and so in that way they are similar to donkeys.
