I remember driving cross country and deciding to check out the arch. Oof. Bad move. Ended up on all one way roads toward nowhere good.

i work in a lot of “bad” area of st. louis, and my work truck only got broken into in the nicer town
I believe it. As an out-of-towner it can be tough to gauge. There was a stretch south of the arch (I’m guessing) along the river that seemed like an endless row of abandoned but amazing looking historic buildings. Quiet as a ghost town. I couldn’t square it. Totally agree about Missouri though. It was a beautiful drive.
