I'm not sure exactly what's going on with the Trump administration right now, but I have some fed friends who are absolutely freaking the fuck out right now.

My fed friends all love it.

What department do they work in?

Sorry to hear that. 🫂

/shrug.

Again, not exactly sure what's going on, but it seems that Trump is taking a scattergun approach to budget cuts rather than a targeted approach.

Harder to strategically mitigate. Scatter them to the wind.

He is. But any Fed I know has lived this in smaller parts in past decades. But ima retired woman so …

Maybe they are younger and not as exposed to the corruption I was. No sass 💁🏻‍♀️

They are definitely younger.

They should be okay then. I know the feeling of not being sure if you’re gonna be picked up or paid via the #US gov. It’s hard but a lesson all Feds eventually learn in their career. Some sooner than later.

Good

He's offering them buyouts.

That's kind of what it sounds like. It's a stay on and be part of the reformed government workforce or quit and you still get paid for a few months or something.

In all honesty almost the only job Federal Government is suppose to do is security of the nation. Anything else is federal bloat.

It's easy for the public to see when so many "work" from home. I mean, how essential can they really be?

Blech I dont want to get into specifcs to much but over all I agree with you.

Although specifically speaking, my friend's job is actually fairly important.

We would be far better off if we replaced them with automation and paid them a 5 year unconditional full-pay severance as a downsizing strategy than keep the zombified mess we are living with today.

Same. Never seen the feds so freaked.

Yeah, Dad wants to finally retire.

Which would actually be a real loss, to the Federal government, because he's the lead network engineer for core IT infrastructure in DC, but oh well.

Always a problem with scattershot approaches, that the "wrong" people leave first.
