nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 blew my mind last night!

So, there we are, in the kitchen making dinner. I'm getting ready to boil the potatoes he just cut. Derek tells me I should dump out the water that was in the pot and put new water in - rinsing the starch will prevent a gross over-boil...

🤯🤯🤯

IT. WORKED!!

If y'all didn't know this nifty trick - try it!

(I'm slightly annoyed that I'm 40 and JUST learned this)

Yes, I'm in awe of my husb 💜🤣🧡

He turned the heat down while you were not looking!

🤣🤣🤣🤣

He doesn't know how to turn down the heat 🤣

Good trick! That being said, potato water (and pasta water too) has nifty uses in making bread and sauces

Chickpea water (aquafaba) is useful too, especially for gluten-free recipes.

I'll have to research

Is that right, Kate?

Tried the mail room?

😉

Another kool trick is not peeling the potatoes. Ya make a single thin cut all the way around the potatoes, boil em, then drain, then pull on either side of the skins to easily remove them! 🤯

How have I not heard this before?

Right 🤯🤯🤯

I didn’t know this. Cool thanks for sharing!

Also when making homemade french fries, soaking and washing of the starch after cutting the potatoes gives bonus points when frying 🥔 🚿 🍟 👍
