Running Amethyst Outbox in the middle of all of this spam is bizarre. Since it connects to whatever relay your follows use as public inbox if the public inbox relay has porn, it's the author's own fault. Each reply may or may not have porn is it all depends on the inbox relay of that reply.

Unfollowing the author is a great incentive to make authors choose good inbox relays for their followers. And probably pay for if they want to keep things really safe for their followers.

Some of y’all talking about inbox relays like we supposed to know what they are …

You are supposed to for sure. All your followers are connecting to your inbox relays to download your replies. If you add a porn relay there, all your followers will get porn.

That's the outbox model in a nutshell.

Is outbox model supposed to fetch everything including the replies or just the author?

Fetch author posts from the "write" relays and fetch replies to those posts from the "read" relays of the author.

Can you recommend a new relay setup?

Nostr.wine, nostr.land, nostr.mom

The issues are on primal, damus and nos.lol for now.

Is this for inbox relays?

Nostr.mom for inbox, the other two are paid and could be great outbox.

Should I remove the problematic relays completely or only from inbox or outbox?

Remove from inbox/outbox lists so that your followers dont see porn.

You can keep them in your general list if you want to see it. Or just disable the download arrow on general.

If this is how nostr is supposed to work at scale, then isn't this just a giant reason to rely on caching relays like what primal does? Everyone says shits on primal for defeating the purpose of Nostr, and yet it seems fucking crazy to tell every person coming to Nostr to pick carefully because its their duty.

So, if I understood understand correctly, Amethyst will fetch from relays you haven't personally added to fetch notes by people you follow and replies to them using their public inbox/outbox?

Assuming it's true then, if I set my public inbox and public outbox relays to a few low spam relays, then add the high spam ones to to my general relays (with uploading content enabled), it'll keep from forcing people to pull from high spam relays while still uploading to said ones?

Trying to figure out the best of both worlds. Got a paid relay, and probably have enough activity/following to get by WOT. But would want to balance keeping things spam free while also avoiding having an account that'd be effectively unable to interact with somebody who just joined or didn't care/understand to deal with paid relays or WOT.

Thanks

Correct. Outbox is the upcoming version. So for now, each user has their list and amethyst does not connect to new ones.

But many other outbox clients do exist and are already using your outbox and inbox setups today.

I have wot score minimum set to 1. So probably I would not even see, when there is a porn post below my notes.
