Seems to be a lot of buzz around El Salvador right now on other social media platforms.

One of the biggest changes in mindset I had during the pandemic is to look to multiple sources and not just take mainstream media at face value.

Anyone on #nostr with a boots on the ground perspective of how #elsalvador and their shift to #bitcoin is going?

#[2] and I spent our first time in ES this past week. I’d say BTC’s adoption is pretty limited and is somewhat hit or miss if merchants will allow lightening node transactions at their stores. We found even some of those with signage that it was accepted did not in a couple of cases. That being said there are a lot of locals that are big proponents (Hope House El Zonte, bitcoin beach and Palo Verde hotel). There is also a growing adoption in San Salvador. Still lots of work to be done but like any technology it takes time. The biggest and most pleasant surprise was how safe we felt there and how incredible and welcoming the locals were!
