I went to a local quarry and bought two loads of gravel today for my driveway. I asked for 2000 to 2500 lbs. The first time I got 1600 lbs and offered to top it up. The second time they gave me 4,000lbs putting my trailer about 1700 lbs/50% overweight. I made it a slow smooth ride home and didn't have any issues, but I sure don't like doing that, it's too easy to break something.

Next time I think I'll try a different quarry. They are super nice people, but apparently their loaders don't understand weights and measures.

Yeah that happens often. In time, you'll learn to judge the weight of the load by sight, and you can hand signal them when to stop.

Yeah, it's not me. They want me to stay in the truck, but I can't see from there.

When they won't let you get out and spot them, you're pretty much at the mercy of the operator.

What type of trailer do you use? I haul with a little 10 ft dump trailer and it's definitely one of the most useful pieces of equipment I've got.

I've got a 3500 lb single axle utility trailer with 12" high wood sides I put on it. It gets pretty regular use for a variety of things. It tracks about the same width as my truck so it works out great on the property anywhere I can get the truck.

Trailers are cool. :)
