Freedom is not a moral thing. It is not right or wrong, good or bad. It is a status, like health or wealth. Used for the wrong purpose, it is bad, but for the right, it is good. How it is used is up to the recipient of the condition, not an inherent characteristic of it.
More to the point, it is not something you can pick and choose from like some political buffet. Give government the tools to take someone else's freedom and you give it the power to take yours in the future. Maybe not today, but soon. And when that day comes, it will be your turn to feel the chains. In most cases, it is far better to tolerate behavior you do not like than to risk losing your freedom by giving another the power to prevent it.
