if you expand the blocksize you wont have a decentralized ledger as it would require more than a poor person can invest to keep it decentralized.

when you are actively using bitcoin like on nostr the basechain is a problem. if you need confidential transactions the basechain is a problem.

you can always fork it too 🤷🏾‍♂️

You don't need poor people to run nodes, and hard-drive prices are not a big problem, hard drives and hardware will always become cheaper in time, what poor people need is access to bitcoin, not nodes. And if fees get too high, we all get to be the poor people that hey we might not ever use onchain but I can run a node to protect someone else's transactions.
