Let's see. Can you post a link to a mini PC with similar specs at a meaningfully better price?

Dell micro tower refurbs are where itβs at $100-200. Swap out the HD and youβre good to go. Less than $300. Prob less than $200 if you shop a bit more.
I'm running pruned on a $160 mini-PC just fine
That's like me saying, "we sell a luxury car for X amount", and you saying, "I drive an old Kia".
Of course, and that's a great idea, maybe a better idea in many cases, but it's not a relevent comment here, since you're not comparing comptuers with similar specs.
So $400-$500 all in. And not apples to apples. That's a used, refurbished computer with no warranty and no support.
Yes, warranty and support are value added. But you asked about hardware comparisons. We were just talking about equipment. Iβm all in for mine for $175.

Kinda. Iβm still running an intel i7 with 8GB ram. I wouldnβt exactly call it an old Kia. Itβs not a gaming PC after all. Itβs still a server.
I totally agree that you offer good hardware and warranty and support for a decent price.
I like that you provide the path for dyi people like myself. But if people just want the hardware. You can find comparable for less $. Again only comparing hardware-to-hardware and leaving out service and support.
i7 which generation? 2019?
i don't think they are in the business of selling old hardware. that's why you go to a pawn shop or buy on ebay, actually there's a heap of "refurbished" gear on amazon too. i doubt they have the time to deal with the headache of all that stuff when their product is the service and the OS and apps you can put on it.
don't need to pay to use it either, so that's a benefit to anyone and everyone who wants to use start9.
it's really an apples and oranges comparison. i have a HP G3 mini that works great for running stuff that cost me like 140 euros plus 200 for a 1tb SSD, but i don't need support or a warranty. i'm not even using the machine anyway. i wouldn't run start9 either because i build server software for a living. I'M the support :)
Hmmm I donβt remember which gen off the top of my head. Itβs a couple years old for sure. But plenty of power for what Iβm using it for. Im planning to upgrade the SSD soon
$393 vs $619
$583 vs $999
These are solid deals. The Intel one isn't as comparable, since the real value of the Server Pure harware is its open firmware.
As you already know, our value prop is in the brand, community, convenience, and above all, support. Some people value those highly, others not, and for them we have always encouraged DIY to save some sats.
