To your point, the discoverability of posts on NOSTR is one of the bigger problems I see.
Also, there's a Matthew principle at play. The influencers get the majority of the attention no matter where they go. Couple with that the fact that mankind, on average, is self serving. Leaving likes and replies and zaps is often times more beneficial to the recipient than it is to the sender, so more often than not, posts go unnoticed.
I think in order to really build a good following on NOSTR you'd have to find something authentic to say that people find compelling and then make it a full time job for a while, peppering the timeline with posts so that no matter who happens to hop on and scroll posts at any given time, they're going to have a higher chance of seeing your post.
Reposts are perhaps the best solution to the issue we currently have but again that is something that most people skimp on.
