My dad bought some corn on Coinbase (didn't know any better) maybe 2 years ago. Was considering buying more and I took the opportunity to buy him a Bitkey and educate him on self custody.

We did a small $25 transaction to practice. Worked fine. Went to send the rest and Coinbase put his account under review. Estimated completion OCTOBER 15th! Bunch of crooks

They did say he can sell it today and withdrawal the cash. They just won't let him transfer the corn. UNREAL

They don’t call it #Shitcoinbase ™️ for nothing!

1) What

Welcoming our first two global partners: Coinbase and Cash App

WTF

Never use coinbase

"(didn't know any better)"

Happened to every single one of my normie friends as well… They do everything in their power to delay withdrawal. They don’t have the coins.

This is why I went out of my way to help three friends get their shit out of Coinbase and into cold storage. The rugs always come whenever you try to withdraw after not logging into your account for over a year. One of them had to go through a few months of support calls because someone had tried to hack the account and she never even knew.

Same folks hold almost all the ETF corn

Wen audit

Satoshi gave us advice to not put our trust in third parties.

The rug pull will always come. It's just a matter of time.

They are so short. There is no way they aren’t fractionally reserving. Tried to get my old bosses’ wife’s corn off there and it ended with multiple 2-3 hour phone calls, selfies while talking to them, and all sorts of other lunacy.

I'm super new to bitcoin. wrapping my head around it has basically caused an existential crisis. especially this >> keys.lol

help a noob? where/how should I acquire it? I've just been using an exchange... I used venmo first... don't laugh. I have transferred it all to self custody and will be using cold storage. any help is appreciated.

Follow nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 and he has over 1,000 very beginner up to advanced bitcoin “how to” videos on YouTube. He is a trusted actor, but be very careful with who you take advice from. I guess that trust goes for me too, but you gotta start somewhere.

Honestly... Venmo might be better than an exchange. I highly recommend nostr:nprofile1qqsrtv3u6qkj6a09tnhr3l0wy67g9uw3t57ftqyqpvztpk3wmd6306spz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezummcw3ezuer9wchsjyuf0c for all your buying needs. Set up an automatic buy and withdraw once a month for free. River built their infrastructure and custody from the ground up. They're true Bitcoiners.

That's a compelling review. Does river do the selfie thing?

I can't remember. It is KYC though.

Thank you both.

That link made me pucker. Prob a bad idea to click anything on that

I was thinking if I was going to set up that site where people could search every wallet,I could have it notify me if any wallet with coin was found

In the average human body there are roughly 7x10^27 atoms. To put that into context, that is 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 atoms.

There are between 10^78 to 10^82 atoms in the known, observable universe. That works out to between ten quadrillion vigintillion and one-hundred thousand quadrillion vigintillion atoms.

There are roughly 10^77 (more accurately 2^256) Bitcoin private keys.

Each page on keys.lol generates 128 keys. Let's assume it takes each page load roughly 10 seconds. If every human on earth started simultaneously refreshing this page as quickly as they could (with zero breaks), it would take an astronomically long time, approximately 5.35 x 10^50 years, for the first person to find a Bitcoin private key that corresponds to an address with a balance. This time frame is vastly longer than the current age of the universe, illustrating the impracticality of this approach and the incomprehensible size of numbers of keys we're talking about.

I know!! it's great. itssucjh a cool exercise in the while system.

however... there is a spot where you can "input your private key to find what page it is on... lol. maybe that is the lol part in keysdotlol.

goddamn it I hate that I can't edit

And now your dad has really absorbed the lesson.

This happened to me and they never reinstated my ability to withdraw. Ended up selling it and buying on another exchange a bit at a time, withdrawing as I went. Caveat emptor.

sry, corn 🌽?

bitcorns man.

What the Fuckkkk!!! 🚩 🚩 🚩

I helped my brother get some corn off Coinbase a few years ago and they made him take a selfie and upload his drivers license before withdrawing it appears they are becoming even more extreme

Yeah, the Coinbase subreddit is basically this post everyday.

They are really difficult to work with. And good luck getting actual Support.

Its a dirty game self custody isn't good for coinbase

have U tried to transfer to a different exchange?
