Realized today that one of the reasons Pluribus is a fascinating mystery is the same reason Luke Dashjr is a fascinating character.

This rant was a tremendous unlock for me and I recommend everybody here go listen to it.

It simplified the world of the present day for me so clearly: the 80 year Strauss-Howe cycle is above all else the death and rebirth of a shared paradigm. After a crisis, we establish a paradigm for everything - money, the social contract, gender roles, government, social values, expectations of each other and the use of technology, etc. That paradigm holds for 80 years, but accumulates many anomalies - unintended consequences, edge cases, unanticipated challenges - along the way. At a certain point, enough anomalies accumulate for people to begin rejecting the old paradigm and searching for a new one.

The very obvious two camps in the world right now are the people who still accept the paradigm, and the people who have given up on it and are seeking a new one.

This will be a period where a lot of bad proposals are made for new paradigms. We just have to have faith that the ones that actually work will prevail.

I grew up going to Roman Catholic Church. I went through all the motions but understood none of the meaning. I’d constantly ask my mom why I had to do all of the “stuff” and confess my “sins” to some stranger in a confessional booth. It felt hollow and mechanical. Honestly, I figured they’d all be better off without me there anyways as I’d wake up and marinate watching football all day. But over several months, I watched something remarkable happen to my wife. She became more patient, more sacrificial, more joyful. The change was so profound it got my attention in a way nothing else could.

God was working on my heart, creating a curiosity I hadn’t ever had. My wife had been quietly collecting Christian books, and I found myself drawn to Lee Strobel’s “The Case for Christ.” I devoured it in two days, and couldn’t put it down. The historical evidence for Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection was overwhelming. By the end, I was convinced not just intellectually, but in my soul: I was a sinner desperately in need of rescue, and Jesus Christ was real.

That realization changed everything because I knew it had to. If what I’d read was true and the evidence said it was, then this wasn’t just interesting information. It was the most important truth in existence, with eternal consequences.

In the many years since, God has completely reoriented my life. Through reformed theology, particularly RC Sproul’s teaching, I discovered that the dead saints often speak more clearly to our current struggles than most contemporary voices. Reading the Puritans and reformers showed me that God’s sovereignty and grace aren’t abstract concepts, they’re the foundation of transformed living.

The truth is, I didn’t choose God. He chose me. While I was spiritually dead, consumed with myself, He pursued me with relentless love. That grace has transformed my marriage from the inside out, revolutionized how I father my sons, and given me a brotherhood within the body of Christ I never knew I needed.

Now everything I do flows from that love. Everything I do here on Nostr is through that love. Not perfectly, but purposefully. I’m the same man, but I’m not the same man.

If nostr were the answer, people like me would be building on it.

Ask yourselves who the builders are that aren't choosing nostr, and why.

Then ask yourselves what all the people building here have in common.

Then compare these groups earnestly. I dont just mean Bitcoiners vs Bluehairsky. I mean their experience, talent, and reputation.

I mean the most talented and resourceful people; people that innovate, and have deep expertise. Why aren't they leaving where they are to build here?

Examples: Bitcoin Core devs, shitcoin expert devs that really do want to fix things, talented cryptographers, deeply experienced systems/p2p people, experienced entrepreneurs, reputable VCs and funders.

The closest I see here are people that got Bitcoin-rich and are now learning how to be angels by naively funding their friends and dead-end startup projects that arent much better than weekend hackathon submissions. A sandbox for playing.

Everything worth anything here is a subdivision of Bitcoin culture itself and Bitcoin privilege. Bitcoin is the only provider of talent and resources to Nostr. That worked great to bootstrap from nothing, but now what?

Deal with this, and figure out how to be relevant to other people, or Nostr will continue to be nothing more than a perpetual hackathon sandbox subsidized by a Bitcoiner ego-cult.
