These aren’t contradictory. I sadly know plenty of people who have followed Matthew’s path and stated faith, but then fell away from the Lord. The lifestyle and heart change needs to follow.

His gospel was about living love, not merely declaring faith. So when I question Paul’s teachings, it’s not to distort the Bible, but to return to the simplicity and purity of what Jesus actually said and lived.

He has too many red flags, and it does not seem like he is engaging in genuine good faith or the nuance you described above based on the comments I read.
