This is a fake account folks

we knooow

Check the icon next to the name, it will show a small person with a check mark if you're actually following them.

Will work on nip05 support soon...

Is there a way to see the age of an account?

You would have to look at their first posts. β€œAccounts” are private keys so the concept of age would be when it starts sending out activity to relays. Use something like https://www.nostr.guru/ to figure that out.

this is where NIP-05 comes into play. the real #[6] could register a NIP-05 ID against a domain that we all know that he owns. this is why NIP-05 is important.

βœ…

it'd certainly interesting to see his NIP-05 ID set to spiral.xyz

block.xyz would be even better!

you DON’T want that

Account ageism is a thing on Twitter and it’s terrible for privacy

I see the icons placeholders but no image

oh stupid me. I thought the check was the NIP-05 verified account. I was really thinking it wasn’t working for me until I checked against other clients and used https://www.nostr.guru/ for good measure.

sorry, i will rework this. It seems to be causing too much confusion.

All good. In all fairness I’m 3 days in and still in learning and figuring out mode. Really appreciate your work on this. I feel like I’m here more than twitter now.

glad to hear

how can we tell the difference? Are handles exclusive?

No but you πŸ”‘s are unique

It is. I realized this after I saw that it was not that Jack that I'm following already.

it could be easier to detect fake account if the public key or the beginning of it is visible on the profile

I have never owned an iPhone. I wish I could say Apple device, but my wife bought me an iPod Nano for my birthday when we were dating back in 2004. I still have itΒ πŸ˜†

what phone and OS do you use? Been looking at the Pixel and Graphene switching away from Apple

I'm an Android Maxi. Specifically a Google phone maxi. I only use Pixel devices. They are far superior. GrapheneOS is nice and works very well. The security and privacy features are top notch.

good to hear. Thanks!
