The thing is, by France promising to stay out of it, and continue to trade with China, even if they invade Taiwan -- while encouraging the rest of Europe to stay neutral -- Macron has actually increased the chances a democratic nation and free people will face a military invasion and subjugation by an autocratic regime.

What an asshole.

There's definitely nothing enlightened about saying to somone "if you do an evil thing, I promise to stay out of it, and look the other way. We can even still be friends!"

There's a word for that: cynicism.
