Design IS the product. When we understand this, thatโs when we can soar. Well, we may need marketing too ๐

Then I am out of the job. Design stands on the shoulders of solid foundation and infrastructure. Without it, itโs like putting lipstick on a pig before beauty contest ๐ถ๐พ๐ซก
Then clearly you donโt understand. ๐ซก
That is probably the case. Looking for more info to help me understand ๐ถ๐พ๐ซ
No worries, you're not the only one. This needs to be said to a broader dev community and probably requires a full post not a note.
I understand the conceptual need for a slick interface, because that is what users see and use and spend time on, but I also think that it is not the only thing that matters. Good design can only bring you so far, before the infra collapses ๐ถ๐พ๐ซก
Yep, I hear you and understand what you mean, but there's much to be said and I don't have the time atm.
I know itโs an oversimplification, but these exchanges often make me wonder about confusions between design and styling. And the strange sense, that can come from that, of the build and design processes of something being somehow in competitionโฆ
In all the design areas Iโve ever engaged with, whether the outcomes have been visual, spatial, temporal, behaviouralโฆ itโs always really been about what a thing actually is and does, not what it looks like. When designed properly, itโs always going to end up looking like something that is and does that particular thing, in that particular way, even if youโve never seen one of those things before...
Itโs not that both the engineering and design need to be good, they actually need to be the same thing.
Excellent point! ๐ถ๐พ๐ซก๐ซ
Thatโs the premise of my future TED talk. Thanks โบ๏ธ

For me, design is satisfying
Agree, it is the product, you can convey your message through the design
In all things?
