Absolutely, well said.
One additional reason housing is so expensive in the UK is not particularly a shortage of housing. It’s because housing is actively being used as a form of money, as the designated money itself is no good at storing value. Everyone knows this and acts upon it even if they don’t really know why. How many boomers do you know still living in houses far too big for them? Stamp duty is also a huge deterrent to move for some.
Fix the money, fix housing.

I've always been fascinated by lack of reaction to friends in uk when I suggest PAYE system is a way to stop people protesting lack of representation by not paying taxes. The convenience argument has become a deeply entrenched mind controlled dogma in uk society
The money is broken. The few who have a surplus of it take refuge in assets. The many who don't have to trade more and more of their time for less and less. Unfortunately both are banal economic rationality and necessity respectively. Unfortunately, that makes it a tragedy that requires no bad actors. Fortunately, that makes it one we can solve together.
