It's a bit awkward when people thank you for doing what you accept to be your duty.

Them: Thanks for taking care of your mom.

Me: OK. You're welcome? πŸ‘€πŸ€¨

Or

Them: Thank you for coming to work on time.

Me: OK. You're welcome? πŸ‘€πŸ€¨

The mom one was funny πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

With the rise of the entitlement generations, the sense of duty to others wanes.....

The erosion of Respect, reverence and value of work lead us down a bleak road, where kindness and acts of service are seen as weaknesss

I was thinking it, but you said it. However, I'm optimistic.

Much of my optimism for the younger generation comes from my engagement with many of the #Nostrplebs I engage with here.

Many of whom are doing much more important work at their age then what I was doing. I thought I was doing important work. But it was all....well let's just say in retrospect I was a piece on the gameboard.
