Too many like to think they know what’s best for everyone. It’s good to recognize the tradeoffs, and fine to debate (even fiercely) for what you believe is important. But it takes a pretty privileged mindset to outright dismiss anyone else’s opinions or circumstances, and it borders on intellectual dishonesty (or at best ignorance) to make some of the arguments I’ve seen some people making about this situation. It’s fucking obnoxious.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve made an effort to try and present points to counter the ongoing narrative, but am once again disappointed that nuance and the ability to look at the evidence, or take into account the perspective of others, is lost in the fervour of one’s beliefs.
