The largest factor is a push to lower my app dependencies and move towards a protocol only communications standard.
I used Telegram for three real purposes. The first was to communicate with some family and friends. The second was to keep up with lots of Bitcoin groups including my Bitcoin meetup. The third was almost an extended clipboard when I needed to move information from my phone to my computer.
The first use case replacement will be a mixture of phone texting and nostr. Some of my contacts have already made the jump with me to using nostr:npub1tm99pgz2lth724jeld6gzz6zv48zy6xp4n9xu5uqrwvx9km54qaqkkxn72 and for those that don't I can still reach all of them via phone especially now that RCS is becoming more prevalent for media messaging.
The groups is going to be the toughest because its so far outside my control. There's a lot of good information I'll find just lurking in various Bitcoin groups on Telegram. I'll miss this part but I think a lot of that info will make it's way to nostr as more and more people make this jump. I've already convinced a good group of my local Bitcoin meetup to using nostr:npub1tm99pgz2lth724jeld6gzz6zv48zy6xp4n9xu5uqrwvx9km54qaqkkxn72 as our group source.
Finally the last one can be accomplished in so many better ways that I shouldn't be doing that in the first place. It's a bad habit to be in. This would be an excellent tool to build on nostr as well to sync your clipboard across multiple devices with replaceable events.
