How secure is this?

I have a second android phone, a oneplus 7 pro. And I have disabled all the Google/stock stuff I can, use zapatore to install all my apps and don't login to any gmail that I actually use. No location services turned on, no sim card. There is also a feature to "encrypt apps behind a pin code" (not sure what that does) that I could add my apps to.

I don't really want to put a custom rom on this phone. I just want to play music and access my nostr stuff, take pictures and share them to nostr.

What would be the security and privacy concerns for a setup like this?

For this use case, why not put a custom rom without google apps? That is the best way imo. I run LineageOS without gapps and its great

That's the setup I have on my other phone and it works great. The main reason is I want to take photos and videos with this phone and I like the camera app that come stock. Not sure if it is better but it seems to have a lot more features. I have 3 phones and use each one for different things.

Oh I get it, I had a simillar experience with some sony phones with a good stock camera app. You could then at least root the phone and more thoroughly wipe the google bloatware maybe, maybe also install a firewall that blocks all that is not allowed. But maybe that is all overkill, difficult to say how much stuff this closed source google stuff is still active when disabled. You could try doing a tcpdump when connected to wifi to find out to what the phone connects when idling...

My main phone is a Sony. I love it because it has an ss slot and a headphone jack its 5 years old and works amazing still. Its on lineageos and works well but won't record videos currently. And the camera app seems sub par. Not sure what I will do yet. Because I use different phones for different things I don't feel too worried about leaving a phone with gapps installed. I am really not sure what I would need to worry about. There isn't much too take and non of my personal information is used on it. 🫂
