Why are so many of you sexually obsessed with Bitcoin? And when are you going to seek medical care for this disorder?

Was considering this earlier. I don't LOVE bitcoin. I prefer it to other options as a way to store value. I think it demonstrates an elegant solution to several problems, both in computing and in human interaction. I think it has a great chance to be around for a while.

But none of that means I love it. I actually prefer NOT to even think about it most of the time. Having some affords me the luxury of not needing to think about it. Doing my own research gives me a level of confidence that it will be there if I need it, so until then there isn't much to think about.

Really I only want to think about it when I am receiving fiat money. I have a choice of how to store that value, and if I am storing it for longer than a month or two, I will probably convert it to Bitcoin.

That's it. I don't love it, don't think about it much, could care less if you have any. But I may be in the minority here.

Read what I post. Most of my notes are about anthropology, psychology, nutrition, human action, lots of things - but rarely bitcoin.

That's a level headed take. What's with everyone else? I feel like when it comes to things that have a lot of moving parts like Bitcoin, the fediverse, and tech.

People tend to oversimplify it and sense they are niche interests that most people aren't into, they get a superiority complex.

That's very off putting and makes me want nothing to do with it.

It becomes an obsession and sense they are not interested in anything else, it's all they talk about.

Then it starts dominating everything you see and that's what's fucking annoying about it.

Like, just because a person is fucking obsessed with something doesn't justify fucking up their experience to enjoy the things they actually want to see.

Nostrs dope. I don't have to worry about censorship hell yea. "Wait, why the fuck is everyone taking about Bitcoin? What the fuck is a zap? Why are they taking about fucking lighting, is there a hurricane?

So like ok great, free speech and I can finally enjoy my online experience. And there's fucking nothing here but Bitcoin.

It's improved now because of fediverse bridge.

But at first it was fucking bullshit because it felt like a bunch of fucking assholes wanted to make sure you couldn't have any fun.

Make it purposefully useless to you so that you will go away. You're not invited to our party and the only music we're gunna play is hip hop.

100%.

And I'm definitely guilty of new convert passion at times. My current buzz is actually around engagement. Like engagement solves everything, meaning of life, how to have fun, depression, anxiety, you name it. But I know that it is new convert passion, and has blinders on, and will only be like that until my next big idea comes around. The last big idea was probably self esteem. But not too far before that, it was bitcoin.

I actually appreciate nostr for this. Notes and other stuff. Well, I like being able to shout about whatever fucking crazy-headed notion I'm on about until I've worn it out, beat the death out of the dead horse, and can move on. It's catharsis. I'll probably piss a few people off, but I don't track followers here or anywhere, don't care. If you're on the bandwagon, feel free to hop the fuck off when we're going over some bumpy road, and hop back on later when we've refilled the party punch.

But it does get tiresome. I'm not the biggest fan of zaps; for the most part, I see it as a fap party circle jerk, and the only ones making anything at it are the same ones that are fucking obsessively ramming it down everyone's throats. I don't really zap people anymore because I'm using a client that doesn't have great support for it. I don't see if I've been zapped unless I check my wallet, and notifications are turned off. Because I don't care. I don't know who zapped me, for what, unless they make a big deal out of it. I am absolutely fine with a like, a reaction, a reply.

You can trim out the noisy bitcoiners a bit by being careful with your follows. Even better, use lists if your client supports it. My primary doesn't, for now. If you stick around, tell me to piss up a rope when I get annoying; I promise I don't mind.

Fun story, my wife was on the phone last night with another mom. She was making candles, having a chat and a bottle of whiskey. I was headed to bed. She was saying something to me as I left, I told her to fuck off. I may have even dropped the cunt word in there somewhere, not necessarily aimed at her, but in conversation. Pretty sure my wife returned the notion my direction, and told me to fuck right back off as well. I heard the other mom asking if she was OK as I went upstairs, and ended up turning around, coming back down, and reassuring the mom that all was well and I wasn't upset, angry, violent, or whatever the fuck - nobody was getting butthurt here. Fucking oversensitive people that can't read into vocal inflections and see everything as a potential attack, jeez. Hard to do over nostr, of course - but really, if you can't tell those you love to fuck off at times, who can you tell?

True but even if somebody takes what you say in an aggressive tone on here, the awesome thing is is that you can tell them to shut the fuck up and to quit being a bitch. You can't do that shit on other social media you have to like apologetically explain that you weren't meaning it in an angry tone. Which is fucking so annoying.

You say that like a fap party circle jerk is a bad thing.

It's not any fun if you're not part of it...

Putting it in a sexual context made me think Infis - The Involuntary Fiat.

But yeah, I'm was definitely put off by all the bitcoin stuff (the orange pill / purple pill stuff initially made me think of the shitty red pill bros), but I'm dabbling in it now. I like the zapping (even if it means all the US folks will probably all be commiting tax fraud because tracking all the transactions is essentially impossible), but finding #Artstr the first day is what kept me here despite my initial reaction.

Now I'm sticking around because I'm fascinated by watching the process of creation. Having devs that are open and actively communicating with the people using the system and watching it evolve through a mix of competitiveness and collaboration.

Being used to the bug filled hellsite that is tumblr made having a bug fixed within hours of reporting it totally blew my mind.

Is there anything in particular you want to see that's not on nostr yet?

A feed that just shows initial post, no replies without context. I get fucking lost.

Other than that, not really. I like it here because I don't know what' going to develop next.

Def agree

Damus has that option.

Oh here we go. We get it damus is great

Satellite.earth does this by design, and that is exactly why it has become my favorite.

There is so much that I know of but have yet to explore. It’s a new world πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

Mass adoption

Do you spread the word about on other social you use?

I do, but the only social I use is Twitter.

I'm really glad to see people on here talking about other subjects the last few days. Its making me want to stick around use the network more.

I've noticed that a lot more too. It's getting better
