How do you get a cat to stop crying outside a door in early morning.

I'm asking for a friend.

His housemate has a cat and it starts wailing outside the owners door at around 5-6 in the morning until she lets it in to the bedroom ?

He's losing sleep over it , and he really hates confrontation .

I told him to get a slingshot and fire malteasers at it.

He seems to think that the solution is for the owner to train their cat not to wail outside the door by spraying the cat with water every time it does and it will get the picture.

Actually , I don't understand why the cat can't just sleep in her room , or why she can't keep the door open , but whatever.

Tell him to make the cat his. Let it sleep in his room. Have a new cuddle buddy. Make the cat’s current human jealous as fuck. She’ll be cuddling all night with her cat in no time.

In all seriousness sometimes cats sing the song of their peoples for no discernible reason. My cat seemed to like the acoustics of the stairwell at about 3-4 o’clock in the morning.

Had a friend who would crack the bedroom window open a little, in the evening.

The cat learned to come and go that way, on it's own steam...

Personally, I'd keep a good pair of ear defenders within reaching distance.
