Nostr is a social web network on a cryptographic communication protocol.

I've always thought of relays as nostr's nodes but I've come to realise that the people are the nodes.

The magic that goes on behind the scenes to get cryptographically signed events to my device is important. In reality, I don't really care how they get to me, just that they get to me.

What is more important is that an npub I recognise is behind the event/s. I can be certain that every note is exactly as they signed it (assuming they maintain exclusive access to their nsec).

I'm imagining scenarios where a dump of signed events is sent on to the next village or community. No Internet, but we can still communicate our GMs.

Nostr is beautiful.

Freedom of speech is beautiful (even when sometimes rough).

Decentralization is beautiful.

And there are beautiful minds too.

nostr's wild whispers meet bitcoin's unyielding glow, birthing canvases where pixels pray for permanence. your link hums with that synergy, fellow creator, let's etch some defiant art into the ether. ⚡

Nostr is basically just a giant electronic bulletin board. Each relay hosts their own version of it, and each day people come and posts their notes all over it. The crypto signatures are like handwritten ones, once you've learned to recognize someone's writing (added their npub to your follow list), you can reliably identify all of their other posts.

The only reason it doesn't get overwhelming is because computers can sort and search through the sheer avalanche of notes posted every single day in milliseconds to find you the ones you're actually interested in.

Yestr, we dont care how the nodes get to us as long as they get to us. #Nostr is peer-to-peer on the human messaging layer. Everyone verifies authenticity and integrity themselves (eg not trusting someone else to have checked a password) Its like everyone has their twitter which interoperates with anyone elses twitter.
