Bitcoin won't function as a short-medium term USD inflation hedge as long as the majority of market participants continue to treat it as a risk asset.

You don't get to choose how everybody else uses Bitcoin. If they all decide to sell it off with stocks when the market tanks, then it's buying power will go down.

That's just the way it is.

I think we'll get there eventually, but it's just not the way it is today.

Notice I also didn't say long-term hedge. If you're looking at a 10+ year timeline the inflation hedge aspect should hold true.
