As far as El Faro goes, they were founded and are fun by two wealthy establishment figures from the AREN party whose 25-year old newspaper business has lost relevancy with Salvadorans.

El Faro is no different from partisan news outlets in America funded by billionaires with a political and economic agenda. An "independent" paper it is not.

They're making a business decision, not getting kicked out of the country or living 'in exile' which is a *rich* way to describe the fact that Salvadorans don't value what El Faro sells.

It's as simple as that.

They're not being persecuted, and they're not going to stop reporting on El Salvador.

As they said in the press release, they are choosing to move their legal and administrative functions to Costa Rica.

These are not civil liberties crack downs, these are business decisions.

Alex, where have they said they are fleeing? It seems you are putting your own twist on this story the way NYT does with subjects they are opposed to. One Salvadoran here says they are making a business decsion by moving, you say they are fleeing? Who is right?
