As a follower of Christ, it is my opinion that Islam is in "the holy land" because God was displeased with his church being co-opted by the Roman state and used to justify oppression and idolatry. Fighting oppression and idolatry are the two goals of Islam. Dig into the "early church" - in quotes because its neither early nor the church - and you will find that it was tyrannical.

At the same time that Islam appeared, the statist church was busy with iconoclasm, and one side won by murdering the other side. Coincidence? It doesn't look like a coincidence to me.

It looks to me like Islam is the survivors, and they organized into a religion specifically to contest the hypocritical false church, and they realized they needed a foundation myth to fully separate from the Roman church. Mohammed predicted that Constantinople would fall to Islam - why? Because that's where the idolators were, along with the oppressive political power that had already murdered so many people, many of whom were Christians, for 300 years.

In that context, is Islam's mandate to "fight oppression wherever you find it" difficult to understand?

Don't get the impression that I'm praising Islam - I'm not. I'm just fitting the pieces together.

Now look at the creation of the state of Israel. Its mostly theft. Yes, some very wealthy settlers bought their land before the creation of the state, but that's not the majority of that land. Why should they be peaceful? Make that argument, in light of what's been stolen. What would you do if your home was stolen, or your parents' home was, and your someone in your family was killed for protesting it? Don't miss the point !! I'm not saying they're pure white lambs... What would you do?

Have you ever met a Palestinian? I have. I thought all the stuff you're saying now, when I met her. She told me about how her family keeps the key to their home that was stolen by Israelis. She told me this, in person. She was not lying.
