I’m fascinated with behavioral psychology. This article talks about retail and casinos.

Did you read 'Thinking fast and slow' by Kahneman? If not go for it.

Haven’t read the book but I’ve been studying the principles it covers for some time. I use a lot of them in my designs.

Never go shopping on an empty stomach.

It's astonishing how many toys resemble slot machines, especially when it comes to blinking lights and sounds. Most of the apps are built on the same principles. The reasons why they work so well are a rabbit hole in itself. It's safe to say the living generation was not the first to dive into it. The fact that this is still debatable shows how powerful the technique is.

There is a silver lining to all this. Since some have managed to escape those spells, this will prove beneficial to others on the verge of waking up. It can be done, but only after acknowledging what was the hold-up in the first place.

This has always fascinated me too. Had I known there was a whole industry around the psychology of shopping when I was younger, it's probably what I would be doing for a living. 😅

if the v4v nutters knew any of it they would not be wasting their time either...

It's fascinating that no stone is left unturned when it comes to increasing sales volume. I find it interesting how the same techniques cross over from casinos to shopping malls, and later on, to social media as well (algorithms)

Yep. They try it all!
