Users can't edit YouTube videos after they're posted. Users can't edit Instagram pictures after they're posted, they also can't edit "stories" at all. Users can't edit WhatsApp messages.

Not in my experience. You can edit it the metadata around one, but you can’t replace the video without deleting it and posting it anew (URL changes, etc)

As far as I can tell neither can #NOSTR users, but if they can please, someone, tell me how. I primarily use the Damus app.

Not sure if this is saying editing shouldn't be a thing, but I think it should be. The public history should remain largely for technical simplicity and other reasons, but I like the idea of showing the most recent edit/repost, so typos such can be corrected.
All of those things can be edited after they're posted.
It happens all the time, it's just not notified with the exception of WhatsApp.
