Installing the google play services to get (nearly) all apps working doesn't defeat the purpose of graphene as they are still sandboxed and you can set all permissions manually. So google only gets the information you explicitly allow.

Some apps will not tolerate the absence of Google Play Services, like WalletOfSatoshi or Muun, and just crash.

You can install a compatibility layer, but I personally think it defeats the purpose of Graphene.

Anyway, I always find a replacement app that just works.

Oh, and some apps won't show notifications, because they rely on Google. Honestly I call this a feature.

Fuchsia OS looks like someone has gone and done the work. But it’s gimped because the UI stuff runs in Dart VM. Wtf why? Dart is mehhh. But maybe the kernel, Zircon, is worth a look. It’s open source, but it’s also a Google project so who knows what dance is required to contribute.

Ignoring the cloud and AI is, in my opinion, the biggest mistake. They are my primary fields, and I have witnessed their immense potential.

You can place an entire cloud infrastructure behind a simple PWA application. By doing so, you can overcome the performance limitations imposed by individual phones.

While the primal architecture may be somewhat controversial, its advanced nature cannot be denied, offering limitless possibilities.
