So Whirlpool is gone…

What about RoboSats -> Custodian -> Cashu Mint (multiple if you fancy) -> Cashu Gateway (again multiple if you fancy) -> your node?

nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg to mints support HODL invoices? If so we could even get rid of the custodian and automate most of it.

Why not just directly to your node on Tor, maybe with lnproxy wrapped invoices?

Because Lightning has bad receiver privacy. The more hops you have the harder it gets to reconstruct the path the money took.

https://lnproxy.org/ kind of fixes this in a relatively simple way

HODL mints would be awesome! Escrow could also be implemented this way.

What about.... JoinMarket??????

On chain fees can be painful

if your time preference is low you can act as a maker and you will pay no fees and even charge a fee for "lending" your inputs for coinjoining.

For anonymizing larger amounts, where Lightning might not be the best fit, I think swapping into XMR and then swapping back into BTC on-chain in multiple time-delayed TXs to different addresses might be another way.

Should we split XMR>BTC swaps into common UTXO sizes like those used by Whirlpool? That would help make it harder for the swap provider to pick out an individual and their resulting UTXOs.

Very interesting thoughts Egge. Let's discus it on the upcoming Zitadelle next weekend. Maybe we can find some new best practices.
