Pheonix is self custodial spend only LN where you get keys.

Aqua is LN adjacent swap tech. It’s not truly lightning.

They are very different.

Aqua is very clever. And it’s now very popular within the Middle East bitcoin community.

Phoenix is great:

-easy to use

-very stable (had the same channel open for years. Never force closed)

-self custodial

Never tried Aqua

Why not both? Use Aqua to help manage liquidity of your Phoenix channel.

Aqua always charges 420 sats + some % for both and receive, so not for micropayments. Otherwise looks decent, but I would have to learn more how it works...

I never able to open Aqua. The app just stuck somepoint. I use iPhone but I never managed to send money to my aqua wallet. It stuck a d. Ane you wait forever.

But that being said Phoneix is a lightning wallet and Aqua is a side chain. So if you even able to utilize lightning in Aqua the fees will be very high compared to pure lightning.
