Just seems to be FUD with no basis for it, and even if it's true he had no access to Monero in any way at that time. There is no backdoor, everything is FOSS, and he wasn't even a maintainer then.

Who knows, trumped up (very old) charges and a smear campaign by Interpol and some keyboard investigator? IF Monero is actually that good, ofcourse some governments would want the guy in jail.

Yeah, my hypothesis is it was all fabricated to scare the Monero community and in hopes he had more control than he did over the project.

None of it makes sense otherwise, but the INTERPOL conjecture seems entirely baseless.

For sure, I've been a part of the Monero community from long before all that and was closely involved in making sure that there were no potential angles for harming the Monero project while he was in custody.

When something is properly decentralized (as Monero is) these scenarios aren't really even scary 😉
