One time I was staying at a Buddhist temple with my teacher. I’d taken the temple camera around (without permission) and took a whole bunch of photos (I was younger and stupider then, still stupid now but not as young). My teacher said something to the effect of “just be with the experience. Don’t try to capture or grab it: you miss the point”.
So sometime soon after, I was gathering wood for the woodstove in the early morning and an absolutely spectacular sunrise occurred. My first thought was “I gotta grab the camera!” I had a deep insight into what my teacher was trying to tell me. I’ve never forgotten that experience.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts too. Excellent advice.🙏
