enjoying nature without sharing the experience is a rebellious act

Fuck yes!

I don’t need to see you ‘enjoying nature’, especially when that nature is a 5 min walk from a car park.

One time I was staying at a Buddhist temple with my teacher. I’d taken the temple camera around (without permission) and took a whole bunch of photos (I was younger and stupider then, still stupid now but not as young). My teacher said something to the effect of “just be with the experience. Don’t try to capture or grab it: you miss the point”.

So sometime soon after, I was gathering wood for the woodstove in the early morning and an absolutely spectacular sunrise occurred. My first thought was “I gotta grab the camera!” I had a deep insight into what my teacher was trying to tell me. I’ve never forgotten that experience.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts too. Excellent advice.🙏

Just curious, what is rebellion in it?

rebelling against the human desire to share and the social media platforms that abuse this desire

Thank you.

Husband and I have become people who take maybe one or two photos at family gatherings or trips with the kid. We've been trying to experience life instead of documenting it. Although some things are worth sharing 🤷‍♀️.
