You know what I also love about Nostr? There are all these different bubbles here, like various friend circles or groups. If you sketch them out schematically, they're basically these clusters of users who interact a ton with each other.

If you really keep an eye out, you'll notice that every now and then, two big bubbles merge together. You can totally see it happening. A pack leader from one bubble connects with the pack leader from another, and all of a sudden, new followers from Bubble A start following folks from Bubble B, and the other way around.

I always find that kinda stuff fascinating. It's like in ancient Arabia, two tribes teaming up because two people from different ones got married. πŸ˜„

But who are the clan leaders?

You can't see them straight up, but you can feel it. Spokespeople for a certain worldview or generation, pack leaders with soft skills. Folks that other people flock to like moths to a flame.

Nostr developers need to be aware of this because it totally informs how clients and apps should be optimally built

How can we adapt to this?

There's lots of ways to go about this that I think nostr developers should try experimenting with. But in general, I think trying to recreate the concept of a generalized "feed" like in legacy social media doesn't translate that well to Nostr, if the goal is to make something totally new.

I really like Jumble's idea for selecting relays. I think there should be a marketplace for choosing which relays to connect to, and clients should be optimized at helping users find their "tribe" or clan or whatever. And clients should somehow allow like minded relay based communities find each other and interact with each other.

I really like Discord as a way to build communities around an idea, and there should be more of a push to build that alternative based on Nostr. Just not sure what that alternative would really look like.

You just gave me an idea for a feature right there.

You developers operate on a wavelength I'll never be able to tune into πŸ˜‚

Wow you really did it!

BTW I tried noornote on my Linux mint machine and I got the app image and I couldn't get it to run. I didn't get a chance to debug it as I only had a few minutes to play. Will try to investigate more later today

What Distro are you using?

I think it's Debian but I'm not sure...

then just use the .deb package. Double click on it.

So nostr has created cyber bedouins?

Not exactly. But human behavior is more natural here.

I think it is heavily wired in us for a lot of reasons. But the obvious one for me are:

- tribal/sense of community

- safety/belonging

- blindly following the herd (bandwagon)

- curiosity

All can be mitigated by conscious choice by asking the "why" and if "who" you follow align your values.

It would be interesting to see how long those followers stay (retention) and the bots. πŸ‘Œβ˜ΊοΈ
