I want to share with you all a bird very near to my heart, and his story. A thread about Blue Guy and Blue Gal, a mated pair of Steller's Jay that I met in San Francisco.

This is some of my earliest photography; I bought a camera just to take pictures of this specific bird. I won't be re-editing these shots, as much as I want to, to realistically show what beginner photography looks like.

Up in the misty mountains west of SF, many different species of wonderful native birds thrive. Corvids of all shapes and sizes too, ravens, crows, and the colorful personalitied Steller's Jay. I had the luck to be spending my time in a somewhat remote cabin during the summer, and got to see many beautiful sights.

The most glorious of all, though, was one bird that lived near me, named (by me) Blue Guy. Probably male based of coloration, size, and attitude, I saw him flying around every day. Digging through the leaves for grubs, scavenging any sorts of food left around, and generally being a nuisance. After realizing it was the same bird every day, I started leaving out food for him. And let me tell you: he LOVED the food I left out for him.
