Zacchaeus; a known tax collector and cheater, stands up before everyone and declares that he will give half of his possessions to the poor and repay anyone he has cheated four times the amount.
Jesus responds by saying, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham."
Did he not become to be known as Matthew?

No. He was the chief tax collector though
Two different men. Matthew was celled to be a disciple, but Zacchaeus met Jesus when he was passing through...Jerusalem? My m more gets a bit foggy.
